Venetian Plaster

Polished, marble-like plaster finishes for walls, ceilings and features

Free EstimateAll of Manhattan · Mon – Sat

Venetian plaster is a lime-and-marble-dust plaster applied in thin layers with a steel trowel and burnished to a finish that looks and feels like polished stone. It has depth, movement and a sheen that no paint can imitate, and it is hard-wearing — the same finish has been on the walls of Venice for five hundred years. We apply Venetian plaster across Manhattan on feature walls, whole rooms, ceilings, fireplace surrounds, powder rooms and bathrooms, in finishes from a soft matte to a high polish, in the color you choose. It is slow, careful work, and it shows.

Our Process

1

Consult & Sample Board

We go over the space, the color and the level of polish, and make a sample board so you know exactly what you are getting.

2

Prep

Walls repaired, sanded smooth and primed with a bonding primer — a plaster finish is only as flat as the wall under it.

3

Layer & Trowel

Two to three thin coats are troweled on in overlapping strokes, each one drying before the next.

4

Burnish & Seal

The final coat is burnished with the trowel to bring up the polish, then waxed or sealed where the room needs it.
